    General information

The GTS5 power wheelchair is the most recent model in the wide-range of Caterwil’s devices, which are designed to help persons with disabilities live their lives to the fullest.

The GTS5 is the excellent tool for both indoor and outdoor activities. Shops, cafes, restaurants, public libraries, theatres, gyms, and stadiums — with this powerful device, navigating life in urban environments becomes much easier.

The innovative mix of the electric-drive and the wheeled and tracks platforms helps the wheelchair user to be as independent as possible. The pneumatic wheels are helpful for comfortable navigation on the roads, and the tracks system are utilized when the user wants to navigate stairs and other obstacles.

The Caterwil’s electric wheelchairs are suitable for people of all ages with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, lower limb injuries, and other musculoskeletal disorders. It is also suitable for people in rehabilitation after stroke or chemotherapy, patients with diabetes or cancer, persons with a complex hip prosthetic, and the elderly.

    Caterwil GTS5 Special Features

The GTS5 has built upon former designed and has received the following important updates – both visual and technical – to increase the reliability of the chair:

    • Protective covers on the track platform
    • A sealed case for the electronic components to protect from water
    • Mechanisms to prevent the tracks from slipping over the wheels in the most extreme conditions
    • A reinforced chain to help the chair keep its position even under high pressure
    • Enhanced ball bearings to prevent damage to the track chain after long-term usage in the wet and cold climate

    Comfort

As in all Caterwil wheelchairs, the user can change the angle of the backrest, the height of the armrests, angle and length for the footrests, and length of the headrest for maximum convenience and comfort. The GTS5 also provides an even better level of the comfort than former models, as the armrests can be bent over, and the knee rests have super soft supports.

    Safety

    Safe stair climbing
The unique 4-track system guarantees a superb grip of stairs. The wheelchair can easily climb stairs up to 20-cm high, even if they have rounded or damaged edges. The built-in gyroscope system supports the horizontal position of the user in the process of climbing.

The device has a programmed mechanism that helps stabilize the wheelchair in case of extreme leaning. Also, the system will be blocked automatically if the user chooses an incorrect or potentially dangerous action.

    Brake System and Power Failure

The GTS5 has electromagnetic brakes, which means that the system will be stopped automatically in case of accidental or unintentional power failure. When the power is turned off, the chair can be switched to the ‘Attendant’ mode and be navigated with the handles in the back of the chair.

    Safety Belts

To provide a better experience to the user, the chair can be safeguarded with 2- or 4-point safety belts.

    Transportation

The seat can be folded and make transporting the chair extremely easy! The foldable seat allows for easy transportation in vehicles with large cargo areas. The GTS5 in its folded position is currently the smallest one of all the Caterwil models — the height in transportation mode is only 70 cm.

I’m using the wheelchair since the childhood. When I was a kid, I was badly injured and since then I can’t move on my own. Recently I’ve learned about the Caterwil GTS5. This wheelchair can easily run on the stairs! Its very comfortable, safe and doesn’t weight much. It’s really a pleasure to use it.

Wheelchair is quite good, my town became more accessable. Really like it, I can travel anywhere I want, even to my friends house – even though they live on the first floor, they still have stairs. Thanks Caterwil.. and all the people who work there for us

Hi everyone! I’ve recently became owner of the Caterwil wheelchair and happy to share my thoughts :)) I also have a video for my followers, you can check it on my page.
Keep in mind that you’ll definitely need some time to get used to this wheelchair, especially if you’re trying it for the first time or on the slippery surface. I’ve tested this machine in Skolkovo, so I had some experience. The most exciting thing for me was its ability to climb the stairs, I think it would be the same for every wheelchair user, because I’m driving wheels for 29 years, no surprises :) The pneumatic wheels run nice and smooth, I was very pleased. I’m quite a racer and love edgy driving, so follow me for Caterwil test in extreme conditions :D
Many thanks to Ivan Nevzorov for his invention, really hope next one will be the flying wheelchair!
